IBM is opening a new island in Second Life, dedicated to its open source and open standards development teams. Bob Sutor, who's vice president for open source and standards at the company, mentioned the new island in a post on his personal blog , and claimed the forthcoming build will be “experimental, it will be dynamic, it will be edgy, and it will have a beach. What more could you ask for?”
IBM has been prominent in its promotion and use of virtual worlds. The company currently has 29 sims in Second Life, and many of its employees have become leading advocates of the use of Second Life and virtual worlds for business.
