Ahh, how Linden Lab must long for days like today: When the grid isn't crashing, the natives aren't (too) restless, and there's no crazy stories about nuclear weapons and/or terrorists attacks from bored antipodean "journalists".
Instead, we have everyone's favourite snarling comics writer doing a book signing. Unlike, say, Chris Anderson, Warren Ellis is no stranger to Second Life, having been in-world for ages and written quite a few columns for Reuters. Next Thursday, at 1pm SLT, he'll be at the New Globe Theatre autographing a special SL version of his newest book. If you manage to make it into the event - get there early, it's bound to be packed - call him a bastard. I'm told he responds well to abuse.
Speaking of Reuters, it's reporting that an increased supply of land is sparking a land glut. According to Jack Linden, land prices have fallen from about $12 per square meter to $8-9 on the mainland. The aim, obviously, is all about making sure that new residents aren't priced out of the land market.
And, of course, next week sees the big one: Voice coming to Second Life. We look forward to the entire grid crashing - the traditional way the world welcomes a new feature :)
